Solar + Scrap + Hydel == Energy solution

Power scenario in most of the states of the country becomes grimmest in summer. Main reason for it is that the hydel power grids become dim as the rivers that provide it potent water dry up. Second reason being household energy consumption, that increases as the mercury rises. We know that our cities produce waste that is humongous in nature. And this source is constant. We do face problem of disposing it amicably. We can convert degradable part of this waste into methane which can be used to generate power. And the non-degradable portion can be recycled into usable things. Also, solar energy can be a reliable source at least during summers to augment the power thus generated. More over we can not rely on depleting coal & diesel for long to run vehicles or to generate power. During other seasons when the hydel power generators are operating in their full swing, due to slower degradation we may harvest lesser power from the waste recycling pla

Why Lalu fumes on Raj?

For more than two decades Lalu has been in charge of Bihar affairs. He has been the face that world associates with Bihar. With his recent turn around of the Indian Railways fortunes he been a celebrated hero credited with the Indian Railways success story. So he is now used to be reffered to as successful persona. This almost shadows his failures to develop Bihar despite being responsible it well over a decade and half. This also overshadows the past curruptions charges he and his administrations had faced. Now what Raj Thakery and MNS is doing [it's rightness left to be decided judicial system], underlines Lalu's failures. What he suggests is people from Bihar not to eat into the jobs of people of Maharashtra. If Bihar has not been able to develop itself for over last 6 decades after independence then they should fix it. The fact however is the living conditions, state of infrastructure, law and order, social system and oppotunities in Bihar do not imbibe ambition of stayin

Adventure

I watched first day last show of Telugu movie : "Parugu - In the name of Love". The movie was releasing in a famous theater [Renuka Prsaanna] of our nearby Galli. The most challenging part was getting tickets for 3, that too in a legal way. As soon as the doors opened at 8:15, everyone [at least 300 of them] started running to the counter. Many jumped from the compound walls. Somehow I was among first 40 in the queue. What to say of those sandwiched moments in the queue; those 10 minutes felt like 10 hours :). Now first things first, title Parugu means run :). The hero of the movie is Allu Arjun. Now shame on you if you do not know who he is. He is a distant relative [i am bad in remembering the relational links:( ] of mega star Chiranjeevi. I understood most of the movie thanks to 2 of my Telugu friends sitting on either side of me. My response to the movie was "typical" and should be a flop. But my Telugu friends had different opinions. They said it will run at l

Thought train

The music is playing from my earphones and i have got one hour of a battery in laptop. This bearably hot evening i am on my train back to Bangalore from Udgir, my native. Humpi Link express, the train, is passing through some part of Andra Pradesh and its 4:47pm. In many Hindu rituals the priests pronounce the historic name of the area where the ritual is performed. I grew up listening to my being called as "Dandak Aranya". As it used to be called since Aryan time. Integral part of the Aryawarta - what we call Indian subcontinent. The Aryawarta as such is an island in every non-geographical sense, being surrounded by the Himalayan sea in the north and by the Indian Ocean, Arebean Sea and Bay of Bengal on the entire south. The stories from puranas tell the ancient stories related to the area - Dandak Aranya. It used to be a forest inhabiting extremely dangerous animals. This area was considered cursed, may be due to its inhospitality. On this day you rarely find a forest here.

Time, Timing & Making Things Happen

Effect of an action depends on its essentials and a great extent on its timings. Agreed there are absolute and unquestioned truths above & along the flow of time. Though that is not what we regard as time. As far as understanding of time goes there are uncountable human & environmental factors that make it almost impossible to reproduce a great phenomenon exactly same way again or at another place. It is said quite wisely, you always adapt, in a best possible way to any given situation. Folks who are successful are the ones who probably acted upon the best of the understanding of the given situation. There is no reason to believe the implied intension can not be carried out in a situation. Given the intentions do not have fundamental flaws, the environment to make them succeed can be induced. This truly should mean "making things happen" in a broader sense.

Cricket Fever

It was Wed Sep 05 22:05:00 IST 2007. And on my roommate's insistence we walked to a Chinese restaurant near to Woodies' for dinner. Only mode we could access the live scores of then live 6th ODI between England and India was cell phone. At first I called up a friend Sanjeeva Reddy. He said said India 269 for 5 after 45th over. They need another 48 runs in 30 balls. Dhoni and Uthappa are playing. We said okay. And consensus was we are set for another disappointment. By the time we finished soup, curiosity started biting again. So I called up Rajnish this time. He said his computer is booting he ll call me back. Oaky. This time the restaurant manager came to our help. With one hand on the receiver, he said, "Sir, Dhoni is out. India 294 for 5. 23 runs needed out of remaining 2 overs." Now beliefs turned into words. Only miracle can save the match, we agreed. I was half way through the cutlets and Vishal about 40 percent through his fired rice. Then went few dumb

Absolute and Relative

In geometry, we always start with axioms. Axiom of a point. Then follow the definitions of the line, plane, co-ordinate system. Thereupon built up are the various theorems and thier proofs till the enormous field of modern animation. So is the way with any scientific stream. Sciences depend more on experiments for their deductions. With the advent of programming, we see lots of mathematics, algorithms, heuristics, data churning and simulations taking pace aiding experiments. Looking at the genesis of every field and thinking why it is the way it is as it is, leads to an interesting sea of possibilities. I start with the numeral system we use. Decimal for the humans and binary for the computers. Origins of numeral system lie the social life engaged in trading for fulfilling its needs and advncement of its individuals. Answer to why not have a hundred as base opposed to ten, lie in human memory to memorize distict numerals when remembering was imperative. For computers it was the two d
